We have been celebrating Tall Timber Days here is Grand Rapids this weekend. Yesterday we walked downtown and played kid games, ate lunch at the food vendors, enjoyed the arts and crafts and Nate ran in the fire hose sprinkler. But the big blow up jumpers that the kids love so much got to be a problem because I didn't want to let Ben go jumping in them (and it wasn't fair that Nate go in them). Since we were all getting tired and hot we decided to walk back home.
Today we went to the parade (they do a good parade here I must say). About half way through it started raining. Which kept up for about 5-10 minutes. But we stayed and watched and were all dry again before the end. I brought a gallon sized zip lock bag for candy, and it was completely full by the end of the parade.
Update on Ben:
He is doing great, a broken thumb doesn't slow him down much. We are finding creative ways to do things one handed. Most difficult are washing his hands (although the foam soap is a good one handed way of washing hands), sitting on the toilet (when he must...he uses his hands to hold himself up when doing his business), and climbing up into his bed (he sleeps on the top bunk). We laughed as he tried to pick up parade candy with his left hand...kind of hard without the use of your thumb. He is good natured about it though. And he liked taking a bath with a bread bag over his left hand.
So all in all we survived our first Tall Timber Days, broken thumb and all.
