Bayfield Day Three

We woke up to more cloudy and bleak weather in Bayfield. So after a quick breakfast in the coffee house (very packed, Bayfield needs more places to eat breakfast), we headed west. The further west we got, the better the weather got. By the time we stopped in Cornucopia, we were needing to change into shorts. In Cornucopia it was very evident that the lake levels are up from what they have been in recent years. Their beach was much smaller than it has been. We stayed away from the natural stream this time (the one the boys can't avoid no matter how cold it is) due to Ben's cast, but enjoyed Cornucopia anyway.

We then continued on our way along Hwy 13, stopping along the way to take a picture of these wild turkey. We decided to head down the Brule River road to explore the mouth of the Brule. I had never been here, and we all enjoyed it very much. It is a sandy beach, but there are enough rocks that we were very successful in rock picking. There is also a ton of drift wood there. Ben decided to pick up one that someone had used in a camp fire when I had my back turned, blackening both of his hands. The one came clean fine, but the casted hand was harder to clean up...and the cast is now quite dirty. Oh well, boys will be boys.

We have a former high school teacher who lives along the Brule river road, and on our way out he was sitting in his garage. So, we stopped in quickly to chat and catch up. Kyle had him as a teacher, but I never had. He taught science though so knew my grandpa (who was a science teacher in the same district). Ben liked him because he took his John Deer Tractor out of the garage for him to play on as we were talking.

We stopped for lunch at one of my favorite places to eat in Superior (A & W), and then were on the final stretch home of our trip. It was a good trip, but it was very nice to be home again!
