We have several places within minutes of the house that we can take off and put the boat in the water after dinner on a week night. We do this often and is one of the things we have enjoyed the most this summer. Kyle and I usually try to fish between keeping the boys happy, and tending to their fishing needs. One of our favorite places to fish is on the Mississippi river reservoir. It is big enough that there is plenty of room and plenty of fish. But it is small enough that it is mostly fisherman and not big sports boats. In other words quiet.
Tonight we headed over there to do some fishing and try out Kyle's birthday present...a new trolling motor. Our biggest successes in fishing for more than 20 seconds without interruption have been to troll because we are moving and that seems to keep the kids happier. Here are a few pictures from this nights adventure. Nate doing what he likes to do best (in the boat or otherwise...but we were at the library today and he had new books to read). Ben playing with a leech (eeewww, but it is what kept him happy for almost 45 minutes). Kyle with his new trolling motor. The beautiful sunset we were treated to...and the biggest catch of the night (unfortunately).
What a relaxing way to spend the evening.
