Kyle's parents watched the boys for us on Saturday, so Kyle and I could celebrate his upcoming birthday together by Lake Superior. We had an incredible day. We started out with lunch at the Lake Ave Cafe. It is a nice small diner with great food. We then tried to head to the Park Point Art Fair, but the bridge was up with traffic backed up all the way to the freeway. So, we drove around Duluth a bit and then tried again. We finally got across the bridge, and enjoyed the Art Fair. Then waited in line to get back over the bridge because it was up again. This time there is no where to drive while waiting. We both decided we wouldn't want to live on Park Point. We then headed to a bead store on Superior Street before having dinner at Red Lobster. Next we watched two ships come into the harbor, and a third leaving. Busy shipping day, which explains the long lines trying to cross the bridge.
We then headed to the highlight of the evening. A moonlight cruise aboard the Vista Star. Although we got back to Lake Nebagamon really late (or I could say really early), this was well worth it. I highly suggest doing this if you ever get the chance. It is a nice quiet cruise, and they serve pizza which was actually the perfect late night snack. There were only about 25 people on the boat, so everyone was able to find their own quiet place on the decks. It was not even a terribly cold evening. It was perfect and very romantic.
I guess we made up for not so many dates in the last five years!
