Swimming

So I kinda thought we were done with swimming for the year.  But then Nate decided to swim with the Special Olympics team.  No meets he insists.....just practice.  He gets in and swims a few laps with the kick board. He even does a few without the kick board. .. just stays really close to the wall so he can stop and hang on to the wall a few times. Then he goes and plays in the shallow end. Other than the times he spits water at people (with amazing accuracy....where did he learn that????) and hit a kid in the head with a kick board he is doing good. He may even do a meet next year....we will see. He is having fun, and he has always loved being in the water.

Ben is also not done with swimming yet. After a more layer back swim season (only home meets....no sectionals/state meet), he has taken the opportunity to swim with the swimmers who qualified for Midwest regional (he didn't qualify). Giving him the opportunity to swim with a smaller group of swimmers, and have some individualized attention to work on refining his strokes. This is entirely for him....no team....no competition. Just working hard for himself. He put a TON of yards in last night. It was hard work. But he got out of the pool and said "that felt good".

Here are a couple pictures from Nate's practices and some from Ben's swim meets this year.

  1. Good for both of them. Can't wait for summer when the cousins can all be in the lake!
