Videos
Ben got a Go Pro for Christmas. He hasn't really put any of his videos up yet. So, tonight I uploaded one of them while we were sitting around and being lazy (don't judge a long day of shoveling dog poop and sitting in the sun calls for a lazy night, especially when you have to spring forward). The first video was taken while swimming in the Virginia pool before the Masters swim meet that Kyle did the day after Christmas. He manages to get all of the strokes on there (first breast, freestyle, backstroke, and last butterfly), along with some underwater stuff that is cool. It just amazes me that he can have it underwater, pop up, and there are no spots of water on it. It's a pretty cool tool. One that he plans on using during the Polar Plunge. Anyway here is the swimming video.
Ben also had the opportunity to perform during the recent Artaria Quintet residency recently. This was fun to watch, because as one of the Artaria members said "in a quartet you and you alone are responsible for your part. There is nobody to cover you or back you up". This resulted in some nerves for Ben who has always been very content to "hide in the orchestra", especially since he had the first violin part in his quartet. Given that he had less that half the amount of practice time as the other students due to the swim season, he did very well.
There is a really good Go Pro video that Ben got while skiing at Spirit Mountain with Kyle this year too. It's lengthy though, so will take a bit to upload. Will have to get to it tomorrow.
